Special Olympics Sports Events for Adults Area 7 Georgia
Just because you’re not a kid any more doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy sports…even for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Area 7 of Special Olympics Georgia provides sports events for adult athletes to keep them in the game, striving for excellence and enjoying the camaraderie of their community.
Competitive Sport Events for Adults
Adult athletes can enjoy competitive sports in their hometowns and around the world. Area 7 of Special Olympics Georgia hosts regional sports events, like invitational tournaments, for all sports. We also provide sports training to help athletes prepare for bigger competitions, including:
- State Special Olympic Games
- USA Games
- World Games
When sport events are hosted outside Area 7 (Baldwin, Bibb, Crawford, Jasper, Jones, Monroe, Putnam, Twiggs, Upson and Wilkinson counties), we rally our community to provide the support (including funds) to get our athletes to those competition venues.
More Opportunities for Adult Athletes
Adult athletes who are ready to retire from competition can still stay in the game as a coach. We welcome former athletes to join the coaching staff for youth and adult teams. If you are interested in starting a new role with Area 7 of Special Olympics Georgia, please contact us.
