Special Olympics Floor Hockey in Georgia-Area 7

Floor hockey is an individual skills and team sport in Special Olympics in Georgia-Area 7 (SOGA Area 7) that inspires meaningful competition among our athletes. Every winter, we look forward to another season of exciting, fast-paced games that showcase our athlete’s strengths.

About Floor Hockey

Special Olympics floor hockey is adapted from traditional ice hockey. The game is played on a wooden or concrete floor and the athletes use wooden poles (instead of hockey sticks) to guide the puck. Instead of a traditional hockey puck, a large felt disc with an open center is used.

Floor Hockey in SOGA Area 7

Floor hockey develops coordination, decision-making, athletic ability, and confidence. Our coaches are trained with up-to-date information and techniques to make this happen. But, our area doesn’t stop there.

At SOGA Area 7 of Special Olympics Georgia, our athletes work together as a team and share their victories. We are among friends, fans, and family at every practice and competition. We all want each other to succeed and develop our abilities.
