Community Service Opportunities in Area 7
Volunteering for Special Olympics Georgia-Area 7 may be its own reward, but it may also come with other rewards—like school credit or meeting program requirements. Area 7 is happy to partner with local institutions to provide volunteer opportunities for students and others needing community service hours.
Community Service Opportunities
Most volunteer opportunities may be used for community service hours. However, there may be certain restrictions based on the age of volunteers and/or level of experience or training.
Area 7 follows Special Olympics Georgia’s criteria for volunteers, which include:
- At least 16 years of age OR accompanied by an adult
- Background check
- Protective Behaviors Training (for coaches and other Class A volunteers)
All volunteers will need to complete the Volunteer Packet. Please contact our volunteer coordinator for assistance facilitating volunteer preparations so that volunteers are ready prior to the community service event date.
How to Get Credit for Your Community Service
Area 7 provides documentation for students and others to get credit for the community service hours they perform. Volunteers should check in with our coordinator at the start and end of their shift. The coordinator will sign off a form from your institution or provide one of our own.
It is each individual volunteer’s responsibility to get the verification they need for community service hours/credit at the event, not later.
Please contact us if you have questions about volunteering to fulfill community service requirements.
